Nine ways to Reduce CL in Multimedia Learning

Working memory capacity is limited and consists of multiple processors (Baddely). According to the modality effect, learning in a multimedia environment will reduce the learners’ cognitive load by means of presenting information in visual mode and auditory mode. Therefore, the lecture in a multimedia environment could increase learning.

Students who are low performance in mathematics might be low-spatial abilities and low self-regulation. Therefore, it is also necessary to consider how compensate for learners’ low level of spatial abilities and what kind of strategies are appropriate, because multimedia instructional messages are more efficient for high-spatial ability than for low-spatial ability (Mayer, R.E. 1994).

When explaining mathematics concepts or problems assigned, some terminologies and symbols are used frequently. It results in effective process a narrated animation to make sure of the terminologies meaning and what symbols represent before the explanation. This result is called a pretraining effect.

For example, "HINT" button could be work well. It gives learners two effects; reducing overloaded and avoiding redundancy for learners as the learning progressing occurs expertise reversal. In addition, it provides learners learner-controlled opportunities. Therefore students could adjust the environment for their preferences.

Assignment May 27th

Based on the book, Genius Gymnasium, Iwould like to create the web for students to develop a kind of math logical thinking.

For example:
Starting at the corner shown, can you find a route for the snail along the edges of this three-dimensional solid object that will visit each corner only once, with no edge retraced? Such a route is called a Hamiltonian circuit.
It can be cumbersome to solve such problems looking at the three-dimensional representation of objects, because some edges and corners are hidden. So to help you we have created a topologically equivalent two-dimensional representation of the object, called a Schlegel diagram, on which the solution can be more easily worked out.

My web plan is combining the blogger with my building web site, and it seems like a cafe. Problem would be provided such as cafe menu, and link to the blog, so that students can pick up the problem and go to blog and add their comment and their thoughts to comment space in the blog.

The colors should be based on bright orange, page design might be monochromatic design.

Therefore, I will research the site for stylish cafe site, or shop site.

Assignment May 22

Well-designed Web site?

I am impressed by the first web site: http://www.360degrees.org
The design of this site represents a kind of the metaphor of the theme of this site.
At the first, I thought that like this layout is less findability.
However, the circle menu bar is very well-designed and when pointing on the menu, which is not the traditional form, the sound support to let user know that it exactly gets to it. The color contrast, background and font, provides easy-reading the infromation. Showing the dyanamic data is well-designed. The sub menu in this category is fine and the way of conveying each content is better than traditional textbook like writing.
Various formats are included, video, disicussion board, questionaire and so on. These are shown very naturally and engage learners in its contents.

I would like to learn how to create like this site.
